Colleen is an award-winning playwright, novelist and actor, Some of her comedies include "Cake Walk", Miss Balmoral of the Bayview", "Villa Eden", "Ceili House", "Moose Count", "In the Country of the Blue", "Mothers of the Year", "El Calvadiota" and "Casa de Mary Margaret".

"Maple Lodge" won the Samuel French Award for best Canadian Play in 1999. "Local Talent" was filmed for Stage on Screen. Her adaptation of her play "Sacred Hearts" for CBC's Morningside was a winner of an International Gabriel Award. "Cake Walk" was brought to the attention of Showtime ! Network by Whoopi Goldberg. Her published novels so far are "Something Drastic" for the stage. It premiered at the Prairie Theatre Exchange and has a run at Tarragon Extra Space in Toronto scheduled for January 19 - February 6, 2006.

Colleen has been teaching Irish Drama at Siamsa for more than six years now. During the class " We read everything from Bouciault to McDonagh, from O'Casey to Devlin, from Wilde to Friel.  There is also "improv", development of alternate endings, discussions, visits from guest artists and... we do the inevitable.. ACT."

Each term usually has its grand finale with a performance of some kind for an invited audience. 2004 saw the class do scenes from "Dancing at Lughnasa", "Freedom of the City", "Shadow and Substance" and "The Beauty Queen of Leenane"

In April 2005, the class performed Act One of  "Local Talent".
