Kelly was interested in music from a very young age. When she was four, inspired by a tune from a music box, Kelly deciphered her first tune on the piano. Her parents asked if she wanted to take piano lessons and Kelly did not hesitate to begin.

However, frustrated with her progress after her first lesson, Kelly was less than enthusiastic but her parents convinced her to continue and since that time music has remained an extremely important factor in her life's work.

In preparation for her studies at McGill (Fall 2006), Kelly is currently learning and playing pieces by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Schubert and Debussy. As well, she is working on a composition portfolio to be approved for admission in the composition concentration at McGill.

In addition to piano, Kelly has played numerous instruments including bassoon, piccolo, tenor saxophone, trumpet and French horn. She has played with high school bands and in summer theatrical performances of South Pacific, West Side Story, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Kelly has a degree in piano technology and has also taught piano.

Kelly is an enthusiastic supporter of Irish Traditional Music and the tin whistle. She has an extensive ITM repertoire and has participated in workshops and sessions in North America and Ireland.

Kelly began teaching whistle at Siamsa in September of 2005. You can visit her class blog at www.siamsawhistle.blogspot.com.  Her classes include all levels from beginner through to advanced.

In the last two years, Kelly has organized workshops for Siamsa that have included guest teachers Mike McHale, Steve Jones and Jocelyn Goener.
