Since the release of her 2006 début album, « Sarahn'dipity », Ottawa-born Celtic fiddler and singer Sarah Burnell has been mesmerizing audiences across Canada and the UK. Possessed of a talent noted for both its youthful exuberance and finely-wrought finesse, Sarah has certainly been making waves in the Canadian folk music scene!

In December 2006, Sarah was recognized by the Canadian Folk Music Association with the Canadian Folk Music Award for Young Performer of the Year. As part of her prize, Sarah was awarded a place in the artist line-up of the 2007 Edmonton Folk Music Festival.

In June 2008, Sarah released her second album, « Return Ticket », under the name of the Sarah Burnell Band. This album shows off a musicianship and artistry beyond Sarah's years and takes Celtic music in an entirely new direction, exploring the Celtic-World music sound! « Return Ticket » has since been nominated for a 2008 Ontario Independant Music Award and a 2008 Canadian Folk Music Award.

The Sarah Burnell Band keeps up a busy performance Schedule, and most recently toured Canada’s East Coast in August 2009.

Sarah is currently completing the concurrent B. Music Education/B. Education degree program at McGill University, where she has studied violin with Richard Roberts and voice with Madeleine Palmer. She continues to study as both a classical and folk singer, and has a particular love of Early Music (along with all things Celtic!). Sarah also keeps up a private voice and violin studio, where she teaches students of all ages and levels. This is Sarah’s third season on the Siamsa team.
