NEW teachers
Marie-Claire Saindon has decided to concentrate on her choral composition work and will no longer be able to continue teaching. Marie-Claire started teaching fiddle at Siamsa in January 2014 and since then she has been recognized as a devoted and caring instructor. We will miss her as a teacher, but we will continue to enthusiastically follow her career providing new compositions and arrangements for choirs both local and beyond.
Samuel Royer-Legault is also not able to continue teaching the classes for string instruments. He has a very busy schedule this Fall and, while he thoroughly enjoyed teaching at Siamsa, his schedule did not permit him the time needed for the Fall semester. Samuel was only with us for a short time, but his talent was well-recognized and appreciated by his students.
Going forward, we are very pleased to announce new teachers who will be joining us for the Fall.
Mayu Egan - Fiddle
Mayu will be teaching the Novice and Beginner Fiddle classes. Mayu has 20 years of experience playing violin and viola and is completing her degree in Musicology at McGill.
Willy leMaistre - Guitar, tenor banjo & mandolin
We are also excited to announce that Willy will be teaching the classes for string instruments. Willy is an accomplished jazz and traditional musician.
Steve Jones - Accordion & fiddle
Steve will be teaching intermediate fiddle. This as a great opportunity for people to learn from Steve and delve into his extensive knowledge of technique and repertoire.
Meet all of our wonderful teachers
NEW class OFFERED
"Diving Deeper"
Steve will be teaching a new course he has entitled “Diving Deeper”. This is a course for all melody instruments and has the objective of exploring ornamentation and variations in Irish traditional music.
Thank you for your support and encouragement.
We are all looking forward to a new semester of music.
