Jacob deGroot-Maggetti is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in the musical traditions of Ireland, Quebec and elsewhere. He has played for ceilis, contra dances and English country dances as well as house concerts in cities across Ontario and Quebec. He plays guitar, mandolin and fiddle with Montreal band Les Quatre Patates, and is on the organizing committee of ContraMontreal. Jacob has over a decade of teaching experience, and his interest in the science of learning informs his teaching as well as his various projects in self-education.
Jacob has a BA in Music from the University of Waterloo and an MA in Music Theory from McGill University, where he studied the music of Canadian fiddle player Oliver Schroer.
